PRENATAL and INFANT CLASS
The Family Place has been offering prenatal classes since its commencement but
currently in conjunction with Children’s Hospital Community Health Center at Adam’s Morgan clinic. The class was created due to the need of first-time mother’s needing information and support during their pregnancy. Class covers topics such as: what to expect in each trimester; embryotic development; breastfeeding; nutrition; what to expect when giving birth and different forms of delivery; and post-partum depression. Class is offered every Wednesday from 12:30-2:00 PM for 10 weeks and runs throughout the year. The infant component is the continuation of the prenatal class offered at The Family Place in conjunction with Children’s Hospital Community Health Center at Adam’s Morgan clinic. Participants can choose to continue their journey with their newborn in these sessions through the child’s first year of life. The Infant class covers topics such as: healthy eating habits; the importance of play and safety measures; information on hygiene, etc.
