Alice Galper has a Ph.D. in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a minor in Human Development. A Head Start teacher and consultant, she spent over 20 years teaching at the college and university level at Mount Vernon College and the University of Maryland and served as Research Director of a large Head Start Transition grant through the university. Appointed by Mayor Anthony Williams to the Interagency Coordinating Council of the DC Early Intervention Program, she spends a great deal of time on Commission issues. She has written several books related to Early Childhood Education and has published numerous articles in major research journals. Finally, she is an active community and family member (a husband, two children, a grandchild, and a dog).
