Eleanor
Stokes Szanton, Ph.D is a lecturer in the “Department
of Population and Family Health Sciences” at
the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
She has an active practice, Consulting for Infants
and Toddlers, based in Washington, DC. Dr. Szanton
was Executive Director of ZERO TO THREE, The National
Center for Infants, Toddlers, and their Families
from 1979 to 1993. She was a founding member of the
Board of The Family Resource Coalition of America
(1982-1990) and of Parent Action. She also serves
on the Board of the national organization, Educating
Children for Parenting. Dr. Szanton has written extensively
on best practice in infant/toddler childcare and
on the implications for policy of research on the
development of infants and toddlers and their families.
