Círculo de
Mujeres Latinas
(Domestic Violence Support Group)
The goal of the support group is to empower women to positively improve their lives and the lives of their families. The majority of participants have experienced an abusive family situation either currently or in the past. This support group is developed in Spanish.

The Family Place began the Domestic Violence Support Group in June 2009 with the Help of Dr. Claudia Campos, a psychologist and educator in the Latino community who works at El Zol radio station.
On average, 15 women participate in the Circulo de Mujeres Latinas en Acción Spanish-language workshop geared at garnering their self-confidence and knowledge of legal and psychological resources to improve their lives.

Dr. Campos covers a wide array of topics such as strengthening self-esteem, health, personal growth & self-realization, increasing emotional awareness, and learning their rights for living a life free of violence. With a goal to educate on prevention and recovery from domestic violence, women learn that they can change their lives to create a better future for themselves and their children.
The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, between 10 am and noon.
