Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential

The Family Place began offering the CDA class in February 2011. Offered in Spanish to an average of 20 students each semester, the CDA program includes 120 hours of formal in-class instruction as well as candidates completing 480 practice hours in a child development or daycare center.  CDA candidates may complete their hours at The Family Place under the guidance and support of our Early Childhood Educators.  When requirements are fulfilled, candidates are tested and certified with the Child Development Associate credential. These new professionals are able to meet the specific needs of children and work with parents and other caregivers to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

To participate in the CDA Program for the following course offered September 2014, candidates must:

* be District of Columbia residents

* hold a high school degree from a US school or Non US school

* be working on obtaining their G.E.D.
