TFP & TFPPCS are Awarded the Latino Community Development Grant FY22!

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

We are proud to announce that The Family Place (TFP) & The Family Place Adult Public Charter School (TFPPCS) are part of the 71 community-based organizations awarded the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA) - FY22 Latino Community Development Grant Program (LCDG) that serves Washington, DC’s Latino residents.

The selection process considered the wrap-around support services we provide, our history, and our commitment to help build a better future for the Latino community in Washington, DC. The grants were awarded and signed on November 15th, 2021 at MOLA's regional center.

In the DC area, immigrants represent more than 15% of the population with Latinos being the largest group among them. Immigrants have contributed to the economic and cultural growth of this region and of the entire country for decades. However, their families face multiple barriers, including political, financial, social and cultural challenges that limit their access to education, fair wages, and compromise their overall well-being. We understand that providing access to education and social services to Latinx immigrant families is critical for the development of our communities. This is because it helps them achieve their full potential while building structural changes for stronger and more participative communities.

We are deeply thankful with MOLA and the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser for believing and trusting us to carry on with our mission.
